Karen Haire, originally from Ireland, is Associate Professor in the Humanities School at Sol Plaatje University, Kimberley, South Africa. She earned her Ed.D at Columbia University in 2003 and is the co-author of Ga E Phetsolele Nageng. Bringing Plaatje Back Home. ‘Re-storying’ the African and Batswana Sensibilities in his Oeuvre. (2014, Africa World Press). She also co-translated Lover of His People. A Biography of Sol Plaatje, with original essays (2012 Wits U. Press). Between 2012 and 2019 she taught African Studies in the United States.
