James (Jim) Ison, AG, CG is a manager at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a past Director of the FamilySearch Center in the John Parker Library at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio and a past member of the Board of Trustees of the John Parker Historical Society. He is a past national Board member for the Association of Professional Genealogists and former President of APG’s Utah Chapter. He authored “Courage, Cooperation, and Perseverance” published in Crossroads, a quarterly of the Utah Genealogical Association. He was an instructor at the 2012 Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy course on Advanced Evidence Practicum. He presented at annual conferences of the National Genealogical Society, Federation of Genealogical Society, Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, and International Black Genealogy Summits. He was a Senior Vice President for Applications Development at Provident Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio and a Program Director at Keane Consulting and Computer Sciences Corporation. He earned his Master’s degree from George Washington University.
