Chelsea Adams was born in Houston, Texas and shortly after moved to Washington State. She is currently a junior at the University of Washington and is double majoring in Law, Societies, and Justice and Sociology with a minor in African Studies. Chelsea plans on going to law school and becoming a civil rights lawyer and in the future a family court judge. Her inspiration comes from her great-grandparents who were born in the 1920s in rural Texas and experienced some of the most blatant racism, and devastating poverty. Chelsea is interested in working with young children of color and teaching them the past and showing them how important the past is to change the future. She is an advocate for black history and making sure that all black children are exposed to as much history as possible. In the future through her work as a civil rights lawyer she hopes to fight against the injustices that continue to affect the black community and other communities of color.
