Craig Marshall Smith is a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is the president of the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia and an Operational Sergeant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
Smith has authored three books, You Had better be White By Six AM – The African Canadian Experience in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, published by CLBT Educational Products Halifax, NS (2006); The Ultimate African Heritage Quiz Book – Maritime Edition, Nimbus Publishing Halifax, NS (2008); The Journey Continues- An Atlantic Canadian Black Experience, Black Green and Red Educational Products Halifax, NS in conjunction with Tri-County Regional School Board Yarmouth, NS and the Black Cultural Centre (2012), which focus on Atlantic Canadian Black achievement and a fourth, You Had better be White By Six AM – The African Canadian Experience in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police vol. II, Black Green and Red Educational Products Halifax, NS in conjunction Black Cultural Centre of Nova Scotia (2015) which explores the long and often turbulent history between African Canadian community and Canada’s national police service.
He has also lectured in both Canada and the United States on these topics as well as the genealogical linkage between the African American and African Canadian community in the Maritimes Provinces (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick)?.
