Recent Public Events

Since 2009 friends and supporters of BlackPast have sponsored fundraising events to help finance and promote the more than 6,000- page online resource on African American and global African history. Our first fundraiser was held in the home of Kendell Hogue in Denver, Colorado on October 10, 2009. (See attached photo)

Our most recent fundraiser took place on October 26, 2019 at the Swedish Club in Seattle where the theme was “Even in Sweden” which featured Adolf Badin, advisor to Swedish monarchs between 1768 and 1818. We used the event to highlight the thousands of entries and articles like Badin that we have on people, places, and events outside the United States.

The first window displays the more than 100 PowerPoint images from our global African history section. The set of photos below taken by Seattle photographer Emile Pitre are directly from the October 26 fundraiser. Let us know what you think at [email protected].
