Quin’Nita Cobbins is a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Washington. She received her bachelor’s degree from Fisk University in Nashville and her master’s in history from the University of Georgia. Her academic interests consist of African American women’s history in the American West, politics, culture, and urban life. Quin’Nita’s dissertation examines the political activism and leadership of black Seattle women who made lasting imprints on the economic, political, and educational landscape of the city from the 1940s to 1990s. She is also a Mellon Mays Fellow.
