Edith Lee-Payne is Executive Director of the Lee-Lovett Foundation (LLF), a non-profit organization promoting and encouraging organ and tissue donation. The LLF was co-founded with James Lovett Jr., a heart recipient, and in memory of her eldest son, Antoine Lee. The LLF targets potential donors particularly in the African-American community where donors are most needed. She is a marketing and political relations consultant, political strategist, and community and civil rights activist. Currently, she is vigorously involved with repealing recently enacted legislation in Michigan that reverses democracy and the republican form of government provided for in the U.S. Constitution. A book/movie is forthcoming about the image of her taken at the March on Washington on August 28, 1963 which was recently found in the National Archives and Records Administration. Because of that image she has been associated with the March and with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in articles, publications, and documentaries. She resides in Detroit, Michigan, has one son Ronald, and eight grandchildren.
