Carlton McLellan

Carlton McLellan is a Senior Fellow at the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training (ADST) and the Managing Director at Global Ties U.S., both in Washington, DC. He is also founder and President of the nonprofit consulting firm MYinternational, Inc. His professional and research experiences are in diplomacy and international affairs, with a focus on international exchange. His Ph.D. is in international education policy studies form the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He also holds a Master’s degree in international and development education from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor’s degree in international studies from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  Dr. McLellan has authored several scholarly articles and books chapters in a broad cross-section of international affairs areas, but his current research interests are the contributions of Black Americans to U.S. foreign and diplomatic relations, with a focus on Black American U.S. Ambassadors.
