Kevin M. Bartoy is a cultural resource specialist with the Washington State Department of Transportation. He is the former Director of Archaeology at The Hermitage, Home of President Andrew Jackson, just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. He was awarded his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Oregon and holds a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and a master’s degree in anthropology with a specialization in historical archaeology from The College of William and Mary. He is currently a doctoral candidate in anthropology at the University of California at Berkeley. He has published several articles in peer reviewed journals as well as edited volumes. He is co-editor of the book entitled Between Dirt and Discussion: Methods, Methodology, and Interpretation in Historical Archaeology.
