Independent Historian

Jim Kershner is an author, journalist and historian in Spokane, Washington.  He is the author of three books, including Carl Maxey: A Fighting Life, published by the University of Washington Press. He is also staff historian for Historylink.org, The Online Encyclopedia of Washington State History. He has worked as a columnist and reporter for 36 years at various newspapers in the Northwest, including 22 years at The Spokesman-Review in Spokane. He was born in Denver, Colorado, and has a B.A. in history from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
