Janie L. Hendrix is President and Chief Executive Officer of the family companies which includes Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix. Currently residing in Seattle, Washington, Hendrix is the mother of four sons and a former teacher in the Seattle Public Schools. It has been her lifelong dream to see the music of her brother Jimi Hendrix kept alive through the preservation of his legacy. Experience Hendrix, which was founded in 1995, includes a traveling museum dubbed the Red House Tour, a lecture series directed toward public schools and the management of the rights to Jimi Hendrix’s music, allows his life’s work to be made available to future generations.
Janie is involved with several professional artist and music organizations, including ASCAP and AmSong. She has also served on the Seattle Theatre Group Board of Directors and for five years was a member of the Board of Governors of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy. It is through this organization that she has participated in the GRAMMY organization and The GRAMMY Foundation which promotes music in the public schools.
Ms. Hendrix is also active in a number of community and civic organizations such as the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle where she serves on the community development committee as a Board Member. She is currently participating in a Living Landmark effort to create a world class Northwest African American Museum in Seattle. Additionally, Ms. Hendrix is a Board Member for the Guitar Center Foundation in Los Angeles, California.
