My name is Heather Handel and I am in my senior year at the University of Washington. My area of historical interest is American History particularly African American history and Women’s history. After graduation I am planning on obtaining my Masters Degree in Teaching. It has been a fantastic experience to be involved in this important project and it is also an honor to be included alongside such distinguished historians. It is my hope that educators, especially at the high school level, will be able to use these vignettes as a tool to provide students with a more honest and whole view of history.
