Dr. Stephen C. Ferguson II is Associate Professor in Liberal Studies at the North Carolina A & T State University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and History with a minor in Black Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master’s and doctorate in philosophy from the University of Kansas. Ferguson has taught at Auburn University and North Carolina A & T. His areas of expertise include African American philosophy, philosophy of African American Studies, Marxist philosophy, philosophy of sports and the history of African American philosophers.
He is author of Philosophy of African American Studies: Nothing Left of Blackness (Palgrave 2015). Along with John H. McClendon, he co-authored Beyond the White Shadow: Philosophy, Sports and the African American Experience (2012). He has published articles in noted anthologies and journals such as Socialism and Democracy, Cultural Logic and The Black Scholar. He serves on the Editorial Board of Cultural Logic.
