George W. Counts, MD, is Professor of Medicine (retired) at the University of Washington in Seattle. He received BS and MS degrees from the University of Oklahoma and a medical degree from the University of Iowa. He served on the faculties of the University of Miami in Florida and the University of Washington. His career also took him to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA. He has received numerous awards and honors and has over 100 publications in the scientific literature.
