Graduate of the Open University (Scotland)
Irene Brown graduated from the Open University in Scotland as a mature student and came to writing late in life. She has written haiku and poetry in English and in Scots that have been published in a variety of magazines. She has successfully performed her work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival several times and had a poetry pamphlet, Glass Slippers, published in 2008 by Calder Wood Press.
For a number of years she wrote for a publication called Scots Tung that promoted the use of the Scots language and currently writes theatre and restaurant reviews for the online site, Edinburgh Guide.
Irene was born and brought up in Glasgow, Scotland and has lived in Edinburgh for over 20 years where she now enjoys her retirement. She has two sons and five grandchildren.
