Dr Robert Nobles is the Vice President for Research Administration at Emory University. His appoint began on December 1, 2019. Prior to that role, he was the Interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement at the University of Tennessee until December 2019 and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Tennessee from January 2014 until August 2018. Additionally, Dr. Nobles served as the chair for the institutional compliance and campus safety committees at the University.

Dr. Nobles was also a Co-Principal Investigator of the University of Tennessee’s Program for Excellence and Equity in Research (PEER) program, comprised of the university’s administration and faculty members that mentor, assist, train, and prepare individuals in the university’s program.

Robert Nobles is a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology and his Master of Public Health where he specialized in epidemiology. Dr. Nobles acquired his Doctorate of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center where he tripled majored in epidemiology, health economics, as well as health policy and management.

Additional professional experience includes his role as Executive Director for the Office of Research Compliance and Biosafety (2011-2013) and Director of Research Compliance, Education and Integrity (2004-2017) at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University (Texas A&M). He also served as Public Health Prevention Specialist at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention from 2000 to 2003, and Environmental Specialist III at the Florida Department of Health.
