Dr. Carol McKibben received her Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999. She is the leading authority on ethnic and immigrant groups in the Monterey Bay area. Her book, Beyond Cannery Row: Sicilian Women, Immigration and Community in Monterey, California, 1915-1999,(Urbana and Chicago: University of Illinois Press, 2006) is a study of Monterey’s most important ethnic group and has been nominated for four book awards. Dr. McKibben is Director of the Seaside History Project and teaches history at Stanford University.
