Etienne Lock received his doctorate in history from Charles-de-Gaulle University of Lille (France). His research interests are: contemporary Africa, African identity, religion and conflicts, security issues, African intellectuals and secularism. His first book: Le dépassement du conflit “Identité africaine-Catholicisme dans l’intinéraire intellectual d’Alioune Diop (The overcoming of the conflict between African identity and Catholicism in the intellectual journey of Alioune Diop) is still in preparation. Etienne LOCK is a Specialist advisor for history at Lemaître publishing (Brussels). After being a member of the Research Institute in History in the North (IRHiS) (Charles-de-Gaulle University of Lille), he is now conducting a post-doctoral research at Rhodes University in South Africa.
