Mark Auslander is associate professor of anthropology and museum studies at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, where he also directs the university’s Museum of Culture and Environment. His B.A., M.A and Ph. D. in anthropology are from the University of Chicago. He has authored the book, The Accidental Slaveowner: Revisiting a Myth of Race and Finding and American Family (Athens: University of Georgia Press, 2011) as well as numerous articles and essays on African and African American art, history, and cultures.
