Parker, Christopher

Christopher Parker is a member of the faculty in the department of political science at the University of Washington, Seattle. A veteran of 10 years of military service, Parker received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. His work focuses upon the intersection of race, war, and democracy. He is the author of Fighting for Democracy: Black Veterans and the Struggle Against White Supremacy in the Postwar South (Princeton University Press, 2009), a book that examines how African-American participation in both the Second World War and the Korean War, contributed to racial reform in the postwar South.
