Tricia Martineau Wagner, a North Carolina author and presenter, is an experienced elementary teacher and reading specialist. She attended Miami University and the University of Toledo where she received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She began teaching in Ohio and then taught in the Chicago suburbs while working on her master’s degree. Her three non-fiction books are: African American Women of the Old West (2007), It Happened on the Underground Railroad (2007) and It Happened on the Oregon Trail (2004). Ms. Wagner is a well-versed and entertaining speaker who brings history to life. She enjoys conducting presentations for schools and organizations around the country on: African American Women of the Old West, the Underground Railroad, and the history of the Oregon Trail. She spoke at the 4th Annual Black History Conference in Seattle, Washington in February 2007 sponsored by the Association for African American Historical Research and Preservation (AAAHRP). (www.aaahrp.org) Her presentation entitled: “Rewriting American History: The Untold Story of the Contributions & Achievements of African American Citizens” focused on making people aware that African Americans have long been role models in American history. | |||||
